I would like to thank those who responded with supportive comments, and who contacted me outside of the regular blogging channels. The memorial services were heart breaking as my friends little girl cried, and his wife just broke down. There is something about that military bugle when it cracks the silence at the end that just rings in the heart for a long time afterwards.
It was still ringing when I got home and just changed into some running clothes and headed out the door. It was a light drizzle and about 70 degrees... nice running weather for such a day.
I wasn't really running very fast, more or less plodding along and thinking about better times. I was about 2 miles into it when I realized I didn't have my
walkman with me... oh well sometimes I think it's better without it, just you and the country side... well as country side as you get living this close to the city
lol, but it was quiet enough to hear and see the birds hoping for a bounty of fat juicy worms the rain brought to the surface. Yum!
I got to the point I couldn't run anymore... not sure how far away from home I was but I walked back to check it out on
mapmyrun.com it's kind of tricky figuring out where I was because the roads are there but the development isn't built yet so fairly limited landmarks but it was roughly a 5 mile run with a 3 mile walk added to the end to get home. Sunday will definitely be a rest day because I'm whooped
lol.
Jumped in a quick ice bath and cleaned up... time to get back to work and get my website dressed up a little bit, and to put the finishing touches on a few sections so they can get posted finally.
As I'm looking out the window from my living room, the most brilliant rainbow is taking shape. Each color is super vibrant and clear against the dark clouds on the
horizon as the sun is coming out...
It looks like it's going to be a nice day
after all... and everything is going to be alright!
p.s.
See you buddy...
You will not be forgotten!
